I just love words (a 2 minute poem)

Here is another quick 2 minute poem.

Really enjoying being more creative with words, instead of trying to stick to a formula - which is very much how I use words in my day job - and even to some degree in these blog posts. Using words creatively in a fun, not a formulaic way, re-ignites my passion for them!

My first love and my native tongue

Words were there before you came along

I loved to write, to speak, to think

Give me pen and paper, I don’t need no shrink

Wrote my name when I was three

Each letter crafted so carefully

Wrote a diary since I was six

Better than any heroin fix

Wrote stories of fantasy lands

Better than reality and shifting sands

Wrote my school and university exams

Travelled to explore distant lands

Wrote a book at twenty-three

Couldn’t get published, words failed me

As I aged, writing became less

Just the way it goes I guess

Wrote a thesis instead

Scientific writing, led by the head

Now returned, back to the start

Words are spoken from my heart
